About Eric
Get to know Eric...

Eric Crafton attended Gower Elementary, Bellevue Middle, and Hillwood High School; all of which are right here in Nashville. Upon graduation from Hillwood, he received a Naval R.O.T.C scholarship to attend Vanderbilt University.  Eric graduated from Vanderbilt in 1989, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Math and Economics.  In 1994, he studied Japanese and Political Economy at Keio University in Tokyo, Japan.  While there, he learned Japanese by immersion, meaning that all of his classes, lectures, and tests were conducted only in Japanese. Eric knows from first hand experience the importance of learning a foreign language while living in a foreign country. Learning Japanese enabled Eric to work as a consultant while in Japan.

Eric served as an officer in the United States Navy for four-and-a-half years and is a veteran of the Persian Gulf War. Some of his awards and commendations include the Navy Achievement Medal, the Combat Action Ribbon, and the National Defense Service Medal. Eric earned the Navy Achievement Medal for saving his ship, the USS Mobile Bay CG-53, from hitting a mine during Desert Storm.

In 1995 Eric was approached by some concerned Nashville citizens and asked to represent them on the Nashville Metropolitan Council.  He served on the Council from 1995 to 1999, then again from 2003 to 2007, and is now serving in his third term representing the people of District 22.

Eric works as a general contractor, real estate agent, and as an economic and political consultant to Nashville's Japanese Consulate General's office.  He has built homes in the Nashville area since 1996. Additionally, he has authored a golf novel, based on a true story, titled "Hackers, Hustlers and the Fat Man".  Eric lives in Bellevue with his wife Miiko and daughter Ashley.
